As part of this year’s Mothers’ Day celebrations, which was marked on Sunday, May 10 2020, members of the Thelma Odonkor Foundation extended a hand to the needy in Accra. Areas which received support in the form of food stuff and relief items included Accra Central, Abeka, East Legon and Nmai Dzorn.
According to members of the Foundation, they noticed that some less-privileged persons struggled to feed themselves during this COVID-19 period, hence their gesture. Beneficiaries of the donation were widows, kayayei and families of the destitute.
Speaking to GhanaDaily during the exercise, Executive Director of the Foundation, Lady Reverend Thelma Odonkor, expressed her gratitude to God for enabling them reach out to the needy in this season.
‘We are very grateful to God that we could do this, and people can go back home and be able to cook and be able to feed their families,’ she said.
Meanwhile, Discipling Marketplace Leaders, an international NGO, also assisted the Foundation with some PPEs and other relief items.
Some of the beneficiaries who received the relief packages, also expressed their gratitude to the foundation and asked that God replenish their efforts.
One of the beneficiaries, lauding the Foundation’ s efforts said, ‘Thank you Thelma Odonkor Foundation for reaching out to us, we appreciate this act of love and ask God’s blessing in all you do’.
Thelma Odonkor Foundation is a Christian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to seeking support for women and children in need. The Foundation since 2008, has changed many lives through its numerous initiatives and donations.
